Regulators approve double-digit health plan rate hikes for Illinois

The Illinois Department of Insurance released 2017 premium increases for health plans sold through the state’s Affordable Care Act marketplace, with average rate increases topping 45 percent, NPR Illinois reports.

These insurers offering individual options through the federal marketplace were approved the following average premium increases.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois (50.8 percent)
Celtic Insurance, Ambetter (47.8 percent)
Cigna (new to market)
Conventry (13.4 percent)
Health Alliance Medical Plans (30.4 percent)
Humana (46.3 percent)
