Premier Spending $86M to Enhance IT for Accountable Care Organizations in Health Reform

The Premier healthcare alliance will spend $86 million in the next three years for enhancement of IT to accommodate accountable care organizations and other new delivery models under health reform, according to a Premier news release.

The new measures will address barriers to integrating healthcare information from many different providers outside the hospital who would be linked with hospitals for payment under ACOs.

The new measures would also help hospitals predict the impact of specific reforms, automate measures reporting and sustain quality and cost improvements for readmissions and value-based purchasing.
