Representatives from the National Community Pharmacists Association and Walgreens have told The Hill they expect a surge of people using their new insurance starting today. They have expressed some concerns about people showing up at appointments only to realize they don’t have the insurance coverage they thought they had purchased, according to the report.
PPACA insurance coverage began last Wednesday for those who enrolled in exchange plans before Dec. 24. Last week, the Obama administration said some people will initially experience issues with their coverage.
The documents used to transmit people’s choice of insurance and personal information from HealthCare.gov to insurers could present some issues. Due to one of the many issues with the federal exchange site, HealthCare.gov didn’t produce 834 forms for some consumers earlier this year. However, thanks to repair efforts, CMS reported the error rate for transmitting consumer information to insurers had fallen to less than 1 percent by the beginning of December.
The Obama administration has also established a toll-free number, 1-800-318-2596, for those who experience problems with their new health plans.
