Porter Adventist Hospital (Denver). Porter Adventist Hospital, sponsored by the Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based Adventist Health System and member of Englewood, Colo.-based Centura Health, was founded in 1930. Henry Porter helped found the hospital after receiving treatment at two Seventh-day Adventist Sanitariums. The Magnet-recognized hospital offers full services but specializes in joint replacement, spine surgery, organ transplant, cancer care and innovative cardiac treatments.

The hospital, licensed for 368 beds, has roughly 850 affiliated physicians and about 1,590 associates. For 2014-15, U.S. News & World Report ranked the hospital No. 2 in the state, and it is nationally ranked for orthopedic care. Healthgrades gave Porter Adventist its Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence in 2015 as well.

The Porter Spine Institute, one of the hospital’s centers of excellence, has been recognized by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield and UnitedHealthcare for clinical quality. Another center of excellence, the Porter Transplant Center, is among the top 20 percent in the nation in volume for living donor kidney transplant and is the only center in the region that offers blood type-incompatible liver transplants.
