The society issued a statement urging 188-bed Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, Wash., and 101-bed Kennewick (Wash.) General Hospital to set their differences aside in conflicting requests for more beds that have to meet state formulas based on population growth.

Kennewick already has permission to move 74 of its beds for a new hospital but it wants to add 25 beds to its system. Kadlec wants to add 114 beds.
