Children’s did not say what led to Mr. Tiedemann’s departure, but his tenure since arriving in 2005 was marked by a failed bond issue and rumors that the hospital would leave Oakland.
Dr. Lubin has been senior vice president of research at Children’s and built the hospital’s Research Institute, which specializes in sickle cell disease, diabetes, obesity, cancer and birth defects.
