The 935-bed Oklahoma City hospital, the largest in the state, had not been acquiring hospitals before the deal, which had been in planning for more than a year.

OU Medical Center has agreed to spend $17 million to bring obstetrics back to Edmond, expand the hospital’s ED, purchase new medical equipment and generally remodel the hospital.
