The rural hospital announced plans to discontinue emergency and inpatient services due to various financial challenges, such as rising care costs, diminished reimbursements and low inpatient volume, hospital officials said.
“It was determined that it was best to concentrate on outpatient services rather than inpatient and emergency care,” Memorial Hospital CEO Randy Segler told the Lawton Constitution. “We all want to preserve the Memorial Hospital and Physician Group and do what makes the most sense for Frederick and Tillman County.”
Memorial’s outpatient services include home healthcare, physical therapy, laboratory, radiology and ancillary services, outpatient primary medical care and a nursing care center.
No timeline has been established for discontinuing emergency room and inpatient operations, Mr. Segler told the Lawton Constitution.
