Ohio Valley Hospital System Finances Improving, Consultant Says

The system that includes Ohio Valley Medical Center, in Wheeling, W.Va., and East Ohio Regional Hospital, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, has identified fresh cash flow opportunities by tapping into previously overlooked areas, says Jan Jennings, president of American Healthcare Solutions, who was hired to turn the system around after the system’s former president and CEO resigned, according to a report in the State Journal.

The hospitals earned $400,000 last month primarily by renegotiating contracts and will probably be able to save $2.3 million to $3.4 million by modifying their materials management system, Jennings told the State Journal.

Brian Felici, the former president and CEO of the hospitals’ parent, Ohio Valley Health Services and Education Corp., resigned but will remain with the company to complete certain projects and ease the transition, according to the report.
