The suspect, 44-year-old Jeffrey Lamar Brown, allegedly stole the ambulance around 6:30 p.m. while medics were responding to a 911 call in Dayton, Ohio. The keys were in the vehicle’s ignition, according to a local police report.

Mr. Brown drove the ambulance about a mile and a half — with a patient and medic in the back — before police stopped the vehicle.

Police arrested Mr. Brown on suspicion of robbery and two counts of kidnapping. Online jail records show his court arraignment is scheduled for Monday.
