Surgicalists are general surgeons that are available on-site during the hospital’s daytime hours and are on-call for night and weekend hours, according to the report. Baptist officials say that the surgicalists help to reduce wait times between consultation and a procedure, and they follow patients from the operating room to inpatient care to discharge.
