Mitigating the risks of common, costly and outcomes in your hospital’s expensive and critical cases

Value-based care is a buzzword in white papers and healthcare conferences. However, it is difficult to define and even harder to apply in practice. But with regulations requiring more focus on value-based care coming down the pipeline, providers and hospitals need to know what to look for to maximize positive patient outcomes.

Examining case studies and the use of particular technologies to intervene sooner in deteriorating patient conditions can help boost these positive outcomes. Being aware of the warnings of developing pathology and deteriorating patient conditions allows clinicians to intervene sooner, avoiding the later consequences.

Providers can use both experience and technology to determine the future course of a disease, marking patients who may deteriorate and help them earlier, avoiding the extra cost of caring for a patient in an extreme condition and improving the chance of survival significantly. An upcoming webinar hosted by Becker’s Hospital Review will discuss methods of mitigating risk in hospitals’ most expensive and critical cases.

David A. Theodoro, MD, a cardiac surgeon and the chairman of the cardiovascular department at SSM Health Care in St. Louis, will speak about bridging the gap between clinical and administrative responsibilities. Dr. Theodoro, who completed his residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., will also share a case study about a high-acuity cardiac patient’s undetected hypoxia and the cost to the hospital.

The webinar will take place on Wednesday, March 4 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. CST. Click here to register.
