The cap, which goes into effect Jan. 1, will affect 6,500 diabetic patients with Medica insurance plans in Minnesota. The change should not change customers’ premiums.

Medica also offers insurance plans to customers in seven other Midwest states, but there are no plans to expand the insulin price cap to other states, according to the report.
