Minnesota Hospital to Settle False Claims Charges on Unnecessary Admissions

Wheaton Community Hospital, the City of Wheaton, Minn., and Stanley Gallagher, MD, have agreed to pay $846,461 to settle charges that the hospital violated the False Claims Act by billing Medicare for unnecessary hospital admissions, according to a release by the U.S. Justice Department.

Steven Radjenovich, MD, the whisteblower in this case, practiced at the hospital with Dr. Gallagher and will receive $203,150 as his share of the settlement.
