Kaiser’s agreement to cover services at PeaceHealth, which runs four hospitals in Lane County, was mandated by state regulators for Kaiser to offer commercial products in the area, The Register-Guard states. Kaiser first entered the market in January 2016 when it opened a medical office building and dental office in Lane County.
Kaiser Foundation Health Plan and Hospitals’ Northwest region COO Janet O’Hollaren told The Register-Guard Kaiser expects to sell group policies for larger employers in the region late next year. The payer also plans to offer coverage for individuals and families in Lane County in 2019 and Medicare Advantage products by 2020.
As part of the agreement, PeaceHealth and Kaiser Permanente Northwest will jointly fund and develop a community health initiative. The effort encompasses transitional and recuperative housing, at-risk individuals in need of dental care, school-based health centers and workforce development.
