James Cole. President and CEO of Virginia Hospital Center (Arlington). Mr. Cole has been at the helm of Virginia Hospital Center for more than 20 years, and before becoming president and CEO in 1994 he was the hospital’s COO, among other positions. Under his leadership, VHC has grown from a small community organization to a nationally known medical center. Mr. Cole holds a master’s degree in urban planning from the University of Washington and a master’s in health administration from Georgia State University. Prior to becoming a healthcare executive, Mr. Cole was a first lieutenant in the United States Army.
