In a letter to the Virginia state health commissioner, Inova said HCA was using the proposed hospital as a “place holder” until it decided where to shift services. The health system also asked the state to prevent HCA from moving its beds or services from the Loudoun County location until an “appropriate” amount of time had passed since the hospital’s opening and after a full regulatory review, according to the report.
HCA says that Inova’s letter casts doubt that the health system will keeps its promise to not oppose HCA’s plans to build a hospital in Loudon County.
The state health commissioner has until later this month to rule on HCA’s hospital proposal.
