Indian Health Service Receives $500M From Recovery Act

The Indian Health Service will receive $500 million in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, according to a U.S. Department of Health and Human Services news release.

The funds will support the construction and modernization of IHS health facilities and will expand the use of health information technology at those facilities.

The Recovery Act allocates $227 million for IHS facility construction, $100 million for maintenance and improvements, $85 million for health information technology, $68 million for sanitation facilities construction and $20 million for health equipment.
