The Harris County Hospital District in Houston has delayed action on its offer to purchase the financially struggling Spring Branch Medical Center, saying it needs to complete its strategic planning, according to a report by the Houston Chronicle.
District officials said it would take two months to complete strategic planning on the hospital, which lost $21 million this fiscal year and $16 million in the previous fiscal year.
HCA’s Gulf Coast Division now operates the hospital, which is licensed for 299 beds but is operating at 160 beds.
