House Approves Children’s Hospital GME Reauthorization Bill

The U.S. House of Representatives voted to approve legislation to reauthorize the Children’s Hospital Graduate Medical Education program through fiscal year 2017, according to an AHA News Now report.

The program provides funding to help train pediatric residents at independent children’s hospitals in more than 30 states.

Legislation to reauthorize the bill was passed by the House last year, but it was held up in the Senate. It was recently reintroduced as part of the new Congress.
