According to the report, a letter of intent posted to a Web site calls the proposed facility the West Jacksonville Medical Center and calls for a 150-bed facility, although the CON says 75-80 beds.

HCA is the only for-profit hospital operator in Northeast Florida and owns two other hospitals, Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville and Orange Park Medical Center in Clay County, Fla., according to the report.

HCA would like to build the new facility in the Westside of Jacksonville as it believes it is a growing market, estimating the population of patients 65 and older to increase by 25 percent over the next five years.
