HCA and Inova had been battling over HCA’s proposal to build a hospital in eastern Loudoun County, only five miles from a hospital Inova runs in the densely populated area, according to the report. The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors voted down HCA’s proposal in February.

The StoneSpring Medical Center, which would have 164 beds, will cost $195 million and is scheduled to be completed in Dec. 2015. HCA said in the report that the new site would “serve the best interests of all who live and work there,” as well as improve hospital choice and competition.

Opposition to the new hospital could come from Fauquier Hospital and Prince William Hospital, both of which filed letters with the state health department opposing a new hospital in the area. However, officials from Fauquier Health said the hospital may not block HCA’s proposal as the situation had changed, according to the report.
