HCA Names President Richard Bracken as New Chairman

HCA has announced that Richard M. Bracken will become chairman of HCA’s board of directors, effective Dec. 15, replacing Jack O. Bovender, who is retiring from the company, according to an HCA news release.

Mr. Bracken has served as president and CEO of HCA since Jan. 1, 2009, and was president and COO from Jan. 2002-Jan. 2009, according to the release. He has over 30 years of experience in the hospital industry and has been a part of HCA’s executive leadership for most of his career.

R. Milton Johnson, HCA’s chief financial officer and executive vice president, has also been elected to the board of directors, effective Dec. 15. He has served 27 years with the company, holding positions as head of HCA’s Tax Department and as controller, before being named CFO and executive vice president in July 2004, according to the release.
