The hospital has been closed six months and will be renamed Northeast Georgia Medical Center Lumpkin when it reopens.
“We will be bringing back emergency services, inpatient capability and outpatient imaging,” said Louis Smith, president of acute and post-acute operations for the health system.
The new hospital will be farther down Georgia Highway 400 on a 57-acre plot that the Gainesville, Ga.-based health system bought several years ago. It is tentatively scheduled to open in 2022.
