The project will add 3,500 square feet of space and a five-bed observation unit to the emergency department, as well as updates to the existing ED space.
Updates to the surgery department will include a new, 760-square-foot advanced surgical suite and a new preadmission testing space. Laboratory department improvements will aim at optimizing efficiencies to make processes faster.
The project is estimated to cost $10.2 million and is scheduled to be completed by 2014, according to a report by The Times of Northwest Indiana.
