Rates from 15 insurers — including Louisville, Ky.-based Humana, Long Beach, Calif.-based Molina Healthcare, Bloomfield, Conn.-based Cigna, Hartford, Conn.-based Aetna and Miami-based AvMed — were calculated into the average.
Eight insurers will sell on-exchange plans next year, with premium hikes between 11.7 percent and 36.8 percent, according to the report. Seven payers will offer off-exchange plans with rate changes ranging from a 1.5 percent decrease to a 27.3 percent increase.
Premiums increased an average of 9.5 percent last year. Open enrollment for 2017 coverage begins Nov. 1 and ends Jan. 31.
