Florida Hospital Expansion to Emphasize Neurosciences, Orthopedics, Spine

Mease Dunedin Hospital in Dunedin, Fla., is planning a new surgical and critical care unit that will expand neurosciences, orthopedics and spine care at the hospital, according to a report by Tampa Bay Business Journal.

The $19 million project, scheduled to begin in June 2010, will provide more and bigger ORs to accommodate new technology and help recruit more surgeons to the area.

The 30-bed hospital, part of Morton Plant Mease health system, currently has four ORs up to 425 square feet in size, while the new project will build seven ORs, each at 603 square feet.
