The Fiat Chrysler subsidiary, robotics company Comau, accused BCBS of Michigan of making the overpayments while administering its self-insured employee health plan. In a federal lawsuit filed Sept. 6, Comau said BCBS of Michigan failed its fiduciary duty by costing the company thousands of dollars in overpayments. Comau said it learned about the alleged overpayments from a whistleblower lawsuit filed by a former BCBS of Michigan account manager.
When the Free Press reached out to BCBS of Michigan for comment on Sept. 13, a company spokesperson said the insurer had yet to be served the lawsuit.
“Once we receive it we will conduct a full investigation, but we deny any allegations of fraud on our part and will see them in court,” BCBS of Michigan said.
