Erie (Pa.) Shriners Hospital to Move Inpatient Care to Hamot Medical Center

Erie (Pa.) Shriners Hospital for Children, a 30-bed pediatric orthopedic hospital, will move its inpatient services to 434-bed Hamot Medical Center, according to a report by the Erie Times-News.

Outpatient surgeries, clinics and other outpatient services will continue at Erie Shriners.

The announcement follows a decision by Shriners International to encourage all 22 Shriners hospitals to partner with other area hospitals to reduce costs.

Admissions at Erie Shriners have fallen from 589 in 2005 to about 124 in 2009.
