The hospital is a replacement facility for Saint Joseph – London (Ky.), formerly Marymount Medical Center.
The $150 million project started earlier in the year, but the hospital’s owner — Catholic Health Initiatives — is trying to reduce costs as it is feeling the effects of a struggling economy and stock market, WKYT reports.
Officials still hope to complete the hospital by summer 2010, only slightly later than planned. The new hospital will increase the hospital’s bed capacity to 120, up from the 89 beds in the current facility, and will include all private rooms.
