The non-profit health system experienced increased admissions and emergency department visits, which helped boost revenues for the fiscal year to $3.97 billion, up from $3.69 billion the year prior.

Henry Ford’s CEO Nancy Schlichting said the system’s financial success shows that non-profit health systems can be viable business models, according to the report. Her comments came in response to non-profit Detroit Medical Center’s deal with Vanguard Health System that would transition DMC into a for-profit system.
