On its website, RWJUH said Aetna “has determined that it will not provide RWJUH with the market competitive rates that are required to support a leading academic medical center providing state-of-the-art care to its patients.”
However, it said good faith negotiations continue with Aetna, and both sides intend to work out a mutually acceptable agreement.
RWJUH New Brunswick is the only entity within New Brunswick-based Robert Wood Johnson Health System that would be affected by a potential contract termination. Contracts with other health system entities are still in effect.
