Under the alliance, Cigna and HealthCare Partners will offer health maintenance organization health plans, branded as HealthCare Partners Select HMO, to employers with at least 100 employees. In addition, policyholders will have access to HealthCare Partners’ providers, affiliated physicians and specialists and hospital partners.

The value-based arrangement will reward providers who improve patients’ health outcomes while lowering costs. Jim Rechtin, HealthCare Partners’ California market president, said Cigna and HealthCare Partners “have a common purpose: to work together in creating innovative health plans that promote better health and affordability, and provide a better overall care experience.”
