Children’s National Health System’s Bear Institute (Washington, D.C.). Formed in 2013, The Bear Institute for Health Innovation is a collaboration between Children’s National Health System and Kansas City, Mo.-based Cerner. The Bear Institute is housed within the main hospital campus where a multidisciplinary team helps manage IT services across the hospital and develops new technologies geared toward improving patient outcomes. The American Hospital Association awarded the Bear Institute the CHIME-AHA Transformational Leadership Award in September 2015, recognizing the team for developing and implementing transformational IT.
