Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. This pediatric hospital began in 1901 in tiny house in the Los Angeles neighborhood now known as Chinatown and has since grown into a 495-bed hospital of national renown. U.S. News & World Report named CHLA the No. 7 pediatric hospital in the nation on its 2016-17 honor roll. CHLA was the first pediatric hospital established in Southern California and annually provides more than $232.6 million in community benefits, including charity medical care, to children and families.
