CFO Mark Krieger: From Bakery Companies to Barnes-Jewish Hospital

Mark Krieger became vice president and CFO of St. Louis-based Barnes-Jewish Hospital in 2004, but it was a line of bakery companies that gave him his professional financial foundation.

Mark Krieger became vice president and CFO of St. Louis-based Barnes-Jewish Hospital in 2004.Before joining Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Mr. Krieger was CFO of Sara Lee Bakery Group in St. Louis. Previously, it was known as The Earthgrains Company, which was a $2.5 billion packaged baked goods company and the second largest player in the U.S. bakery market when Sara Lee acquired it in 2001.

Prior to his Earthgrains tenure, Mr. Krieger served as CFO of Campbell Taggert, the bakery division of Anheuser-Busch. In total, he has more than 26 years of experience in executive finance and strategic planning.

For the past eight years, he has managed the fiscal direction of the largest hospital in St. Louis and one of the most medically renowned hospitals in the Midwest. In 2010, Barnes-Jewish recorded $1.64 billion in net revenue, up from $1.59 billion in 2009.
