CEO of MCG Health in Georgia Steps Down

Don Snell is stepping down as president and CEO of 632-bed MCG Health in Augusta, Ga., according to a release from MCG Health.

James N. Thompson, MD, dean emeritus of Wake Forest University School of Medicine, will serve as interim president.

MCG Health, operated by the Medical College of Georgia, includes the 478-bed MCGHealth Medical Center and the 154-bed MCGHealth Children’s Medical Center.

Joining MCG Health 10 years ago, Mr. Snell oversaw its turnaround after a $25 million deficit in 2000 and restructured its outpatient clinics into a flexible, non-profit system that competes for patients with other systems.
