Central Illinois Health System to Merge with Advocate Health

Normal, Ill.-based BroMenn Healthcare and Oakbrook, Ill.-based Advocate Health Care have filed a change of ownership exemption application with the state of Illinois to merge, according to a report by The Pantagraph.

BroMenn and Advocate signed a letter of intent to merge in Dec. 2008, which was extended in April.

Advocate approached BroMenn about the merger as part of the system’s desire to expand operations outside of the greater Chicago area, according to the report.

The two health systems are expected to finalize their agreement within 30 days.
