The start date of North Carolina’s managed Medicaid program has been delayed from Feb. 1, 2020, to Oct. 1, 2020. Among several issues, conflict of interest claims have muddied the billion-dollar contracts. In October 2019, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services asked a state tribunal reviewing how it awarded contracts for its managed Medicaid program to reject claims that its process was influenced by conflicts of interest.
After including the expected revenue reduction, Centene projects its total revenues will be between $78.6 billion and $79.4 billion in 2020.
