The training program offers recommendations for prescribing opioids more safely and effectively. It also focuses on opioid prescription practices in the outpatient setting, excluding active cancer treatment, palliative care and end-of-life care.

The program provides tools to help providers apply the recommendations. These tools include interactive patient scenarios, videos, knowledge checks, tips and other resources.

The online training includes modules on communicating with pain patients, reducing the risks of opioids as well as treating chronic pain without the use of opioids.
