The donation will go toward the cost of expanding the department from 33 beds to 42. The emergency department will be renamed the Larry L. Luing Emergency Department to honor a former area resident.
The donation will also go toward the center’s radiology department expansion, which will include a new interventional radiology suite, CT scan, special procedures suite and fluoroscopy suite.
The total cost of the upcoming work is estimated at $19.9 million and expected to take seven months to complete.
The expansion plans are still awaiting approval from the state Department of Health and the Department of Community Affairs.
