California Hospital Opens New Acute-Care Facility

El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, Calif., has opened a new $480 million acute-care center, which arches around its existing facility, according to a report by San Jose Mercury News.

The 450,000 square-foot center features 241 beds, wireless Internet accessibility, personalized food service and translation programs for 22 different languages built into the patient beds, according to the report.

El Camino’s new facility was developed to meet California’s new seismic safety standards for hospitals. El Camino is one of the few hospitals in the state to meet the guidelines by construction a new facility, according to the report.
