Recently, Montana State Insurance Commissioner Monica Lindeen questioned the reasoning behind BCBS of Montana raising premium rates for its 2014-15 student plan, according to KGVO.com. Through a settlement, the insurer agreed to lower the premium increase and refund the students.
Most of the students received checks of approximately $170. “I think that was probably a nice surprise, I’m hoping, after those students got those checks in the mail,” said Commissioner Lindeen, according to the report.
