The new business unit, called Medicare Holdings, was approved by the health insurer’s board, BCBS of Michigan executives confirmed with Crain’s. Several Blue plans that don’t sell Medicare Advantage policies are in discussions with BCBS of Michigan to begin offering the products, Pritpal Virdee, president of Medicare Holdings, told the publication.
BCBS of Michigan is the seventh-largest Medicare Advantage business in America, covering about 530,000 members, according to the report.
