BCBS, East Tennessee State University partnership begins accepting applications for first class

The BlueSky Tennessee Institute, a partnership between Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee and East Tennessee State University, has begun accepting applications for enrollment in its inaugural class, The Chattanoogan reported Aug. 5.

The collaboration will provide eligible high school graduates with the opportunity to earn a bachelor’s degree in computing and a potential job offer from BCBS, according to a March 8 news release.

Students can complete the program in two years.

“In developing BlueSky Institute, we sought out a program partner that recognized the high demand for technology jobs in Tennessee and shared our vision to meet that need with a new approach,” said BCBS of Tennessee CEO JD Hickey, MD. “We’re excited to collaborate with ETSU to develop tech talent together, right here in our home state.
