Avera Queen of Peace Hospital (Mitchell, S.D.). Avera Queen of Peace Hospital was established by the Presentation Sisters faith community in 1906 as 35-bed St. Joseph Hospital. The hospital took on its current name in 2000 with the formation of Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Avera Health. The National Rural Health Association named the hospital among the Top 20 Rural Community Hospitals in 2017.
