As Pennsylvania Employment Fell, Hospital Jobs Stayed Steady in 2009

While nonfarm employment in Pennsylvania decreased by 2.59 percent between Dec. 2008 and Dec. 2009, direct hospital employment slipped just 0.15 percent, according to a release by the Hospital & HealthSystem Association of Pennsylvania.

HAP said hospitals in Pennsylvania provide more than 596,000 hospital and hospital service-related jobs and generate $89.8 billion for the state’s economy.
