Ms. Tavenner joined AHIP in 2015 as CEO. Before that, she served as administrator and principal deputy administrator of CMS from 2010 to 2015.

Some major insurers — Humana and Aetna — left AHIP under Ms. Tavenner’s leadership.

Matt Eyles, COO of AHIP, will succeed Ms. Tavenner as president and CEO. Mr. Eyles served as the trade group’s executive vice president beginning in 2015, until his promotion to COO in 2017.

Before joining AHIP, Mr. Eyles was executive vice president at Avalere Health. He was also previously corporate vice president of public affairs and policy at Coventry Health Care, which is now Aetna.
