Here are three things to know about the Medicaid contract for KanCare:
1. Aetna is the only new company joining the $3 billion contract, with Centene subsidiary Sunflower State Health Plan and UnitedHealthcare securing their spots.
2. The managed care organizations were selected from a pool of six candidates who submitted bids until a June 2 deadline.
3. Amerigroup has been managing KanCare for the past five years. Aetna, along with Sunflower State Health Plan and UnitedHealthcare, will begin their new contract Jan. 1, 2019, according to The Kansas City Star.
