5 Real Estate-Related Companies to Know

Here are five real estate-related companies to know that serve the surgery center and hospital industries.

1. Erdman (a Cogdell Spencer Company). Erdman is one of the top build design solutions nationally for ASCs, hospitals and MOBs. As the economy evolves, they remain in incredible shape for the future. They’ve combined and grown well and are great at handling projects on budget and on time.

2. McShane Medical Properties. This is another company which — both on the design build side and on the real estate acquisition side — does an incredible job of bringing to the table efforts that go well beyond the job. On the project side, people like John Daly do everything they can to help companies and centers plan and strategize in a manner that is in the best interests of the project whether or not it is good for McShane. On the acquisition side, the straightforwardness and professionalism of people like Ray Braun, the McShane acquisition’s leader, is almost unmatched.

3. Sanders Trust. Sanders Trust is a great and growing company that acquires MOBs, hospitals and other healthcare real estate. Led by people like NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Bart Starr (Brett Favre’s predecessor) and Lt. Col. Bruce Bright, it has incredible discipline and incredible integrity. It is one of the companies that every seller of real estate ought to want at the top of their list. They are uncommonly good people who never fail to honor commitments.

4. AMB Development. AMB, founded and led by Jack Amormino, is truly a company and team that has come of age. Jack has worked at improving his company and his services every year in the last 15 years that I’ve known him. He has become so much more than an architect and is also a strategy person and an outstanding entrepreneur and planner. He has special skills and thinking abilities. Also, congratulations to Jim Freund who has recently joined Jack and AMB as a senior vice president.

5. Marasco and Associates. John Marasco and his team do a great job for clients. While they focus on ASC and MOB architecture, they also work closely with clients on feasibility analysis and on efforts related to figuring out what works and what doesn’t work for clients. Bob Marasco, the veteran founder of Marasco Associates, was truly one of the smartest, best and most interesting people to ever work in the ASC arena. His son John is truly exceptional as well and inherited the brains from his father but must have found the personal style of grace and non-combativeness from his mother. Marasco is truly an ASC institution. We really like both Bob who has retired and his son John who — with a terrific team — runs the business today.
